Pacific Palisades Wildfire Recovery & Rebuilding Resource Center

This page is dedicated to providing residents of the Pacific Palisades community with the most relevant resources, guidance, and community aid following the recent devastating fire. We are here for the long road to recovery.

    Community & Direct Aid Resources

The spirit of the Pacific Palisades community is strong.

    GoFundMe & Direct Financial Assistance

    • GoFundMe Verified Pacific Palisades Relief: The platform has a dedicated page for verified fundraisers, ensuring donations go directly to individuals, families, and businesses in the community who lost homes and livelihoods.
    • Kehillat Israel (KI) Community Palisades Fire Assistance Fund: A localized fund dedicated to aiding community members who have suffered catastrophic losses.
    • California Community Foundation (CCF) Wildfire Recovery Fund: Provides long-term grants to non-profits working directly in the Palisades/LA County area to support housing, mental health, and financial aid for the most vulnerable, including renters and low-income seniors.
    • Palisades-Malibu YMCA: Known for continuing to provide relief and a local community hub for services.
    • The American Legion Post 283: Often serves as a community hub, offering meeting spaces, resources, and support for displaced residents and veterans.

Rebuilding & Permitting Process (CITY OF LA)

The majority of the Pacific Palisades burn area falls under the City of Los Angeles jurisdiction. The following resources are essential for homeowners planning to rebuild.

    One-Stop Permitting and City/County Resources

    • City of Los Angeles Wildfire Rebuilding & Recovery: This is your primary resource for all rebuilding regulations, documentation requirements, and expedited permitting processes for the City of LA.
    • City of Los Angeles One-Stop Rebuilding Center: A physical location where you can speak with representatives from multiple City departments (Building & Safety, Planning, etc.) to streamline your plan check and permitting.
      • Location: 1828 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025
    • LA County Recovers – Rebuilding: For properties in the immediately adjacent, unincorporated LA County areas affected by the fire.
    • “Like-for-Like” Rebuilds: Inquire about expedited permit review for rebuilding your home to its original size (with up to a 10% increase) but ensure the new structure meets current fire codes (fire-resistant materials).

    Debris Removal & Safety

    • Government-Assisted Debris Removal Program: Los Angeles County offers a managed program to clear fire debris from private property.
    • Air Quality Monitoring: Monitor conditions, especially during cleanup.

    Financial, Insurance & Utilities Guidance

    Insurance & Financial Aid

    • United Policyholders (UP): A non-profit organization offering free, expert guidance to help you navigate your insurance claim and secure a full and fair payout.
    • Federal Assistance (FEMA & SBA):
      • FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency): Apply for federal aid for uninsured or underinsured disaster-related needs.
    • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) ReBUILD LA™: Offers long-term support including grants for needs not met by insurance (e.g., utility hookup fees, permit costs) and gap financing.
